Start a gold business!
Do you want to start a gold business yourself? Once you've learned the methods I've described previously, you'll be equipped to purchase your own gold at yardsales, flea markets, swap meets, friends, family and online! Take it from someone who's been doing it a long time - buying and selling gold is quite addictive! If you've purchased a loupe, digital pocket scale and an acid test kit, you're on your way to starting your own gold business. I assembled my "jeweler's kit" from those items and added a calculator, pen and pencil, a diamond tester and a few other small items. Here is a picture of my jeweler's kit:

Many years ago, I worked for a jeweler that knew I liked to go to yardsales and flea markets on the weekends, and he suggested I ask for scrap gold to sell back to him. After I no longer worked for the jeweler, I continued to purchase gold not only at yardsales and flea markets, but also from friends, family and co-workers. I had inexpensive business cards made up and handed them out every chance I got. My weekend "fun" turned into a nice side business that I'm still enjoying today! You can do the same thing. All you have to know is how to test and weigh gold and how to calculate what it's worth. Assembling your own "jeweler's kit" will make you look more professional and trustworthy. Once you calculate what the gold you're about to purchase is worth, make an offer to the seller, keeping in mind you'll need to make a profit on it. I usually offer 80% of the spot price, and that is normally quite acceptable to the seller. If you've been through the gold selling process I've covered previously, then you're just as well-equipped to purchase it and perhaps turn it into a side business like I did!
